Chengde, a small country town 250km northeast of Beijing, is surrounded by the Yunshan mountain range. It is adjacent to Beijing and Tianjin, 224 kilometers from Beijing. Chengde covers an area of nearly 40,000 square kilometers and has a population of over 3.55 million.

Chengde has a long history and abundant multi-ethnic historical and cultural connotations. It used to be the second political center in the Qing dynasty, with the largest extant royal garden in China. Chengde used to be called as "Rehe", for the sake of having the ever flowing and unfrozen spring here. The city used to be the provincial capital of Rehe province in 1928. It was discovered by the early Qing emperor Kangxi in the late 17th century, who found the cool summer climate and natural scenery appealing as a summer retreat. Kangxi and his successors built some 72 palaces there by the end of the 18th century, along with replicas of the Potala Palace of the Tibetan Buddhist lamas.
As one of the first famous historic and cultural cities of the nation, Chengde has plenty of sceneries, with some of them being renowned both at home and abroad. The Mountain Resort and Eight Outer Temples are listed as the world cultural heritage sites, which have contributed towards Chengde being one of famous cities in the world.
Besides, it has the world's largest royal hunting- the Mulan Paddock; the biggest wooden Buddha statue -the Kwan-yin Bodhisattva with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes, and the shortest river- the Hot River.

Day 1 Beijing / Chengde
Transfer to the railway station and board the soft-seat train to Chengde. Arrive in Chengde railway station, meet your guide and transfer to the four-star Yunshan Hotel. After lunch at nice local restaurant, you will visit the Imperial Temples Outside the walls of the Chengde Imperial Dwelling Palace. Enjoy your rest of the day explore the temples around there.
Day 2 Chengde / Beijing
After breakfast at hotel, you will visit the Chengde Summer Resort, the largest imperial garden and the second political center of the Qing Dynasty. After have a lunch at hotel, transfer to the railway station and board the train back to Beijing. Meet your guide at the railway station and transfer to the Holiday Inn Downtown Hotel.
