India has one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. The north of the country is bordered by Himalayas, while the western parts are covered by the Western Ghats. The Aravali Range runs from northeast to southwest direction, and is considered as one of the oldest mountain ranges in India. These beautiful mountains and valleys are a traveller's ecstasy.

North India

There are many beautiful hill stations in the northern part of India. Almora, in the Kumaon region is one of them. You can enjoy the remarkable landscape of Central Himalayas from Almora. Ranikhet is one of the well-known health resorts in Almora. Almora also has a few temples and some famous tourist spots like Chaubatia and Tarikhet.

Doon Valley or Dehradun is the most picturesque spot you cannot miss. Other top hill stations in North India include Kullu, Manali, Khajjar, Chamba, Shimla, Nainital and Sonamarg.

South India

The hill stations in south India are known for their marvellous waterfalls, monumental rocks and caves, splendid lakes, and charming hill-plantations. The beauty of the numerous hill stations in South India is captivated mainly in Kodiakanal. A famous tourist spot, Kodiakanal is a quiet and pleasant hill station. Green forests, Coaker's Walk, Fairy Falls, and Pillar Rocks add to the typical serenity of Kodai.

Other lovely spots in South India include Munnar, Yercaud, Yelagiri, Vagamon, Ooty and Coonoor. Munnar is the most sought after tourist spot in India. Yercaud is 1500 mts above sea level and is a beautiful hill station with picturesque backdrop located in Shevaroy hills. If you are planning a two week's trip, you can easily cover Kodaikanal, Coonoor and Ooty, all not too far from each other.

East India

Darjeeling, the queen of all hill stations stands first when it comes to hill stations in the eastern part of India. Darjeeling is also the third highest peak in the world. With chilly weather and a serene landscape, Darjeeling presents a wonderful experience to all its visitors. Kalimpong and Mirik are two other beautiful hill stations near Darjeeling.

Shillong in East India is also worth visiting. Haflong, Peling, Pasighat and Tawang join the list. Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim is a mysterious beauty. Monasteries, Kabi Longstok, Kechopari lake and Dul Dul Chorten are just a few must see spots in Gangtok.

West India

West India has some extraordinarily beautiful hill stations. One of them is definitely Khandala. Khandala, located on the Western slopes of Sahyadri Mountain, has plenty of tourist spots to offer. Lonavala, the nearby hill station is also a fabulous getaway. Monsoon is the best season to visit Khandala and Lonavala. Other scenic spots in the Western part of India are Panchgani, Saputara, Matheran and Mahabaleshwar.
